I suppose one is in order. My name is Jonathon Howard. As the subtitle of the page says. I’m a student at UC Davis in California. I’m a classical civilizations major and history minor. I’ll be graduating this spring. What comes next for me? I really don’t know. I haven’t applied to graduate school though that is on the agenda. I just do not know if I want to do that right now or not. This seems an inappropriate time and space to start going into the gritty details of my life. I can assure you that those will come up in due time.
As college is the primary focus of my life, I’m going to be filling this space with my observations on college life, campus politics, student/student relationships and student/professor relationships. I’m not much of a party person, so don’t expect drunken rants or posts. Though I might blog about the party scene here and other entertainment topics for college students.
I work at a Borders bookstore. I will most definitely be talking about my experiences there, mostly because I spend a great deal of my time there and secondly because they way business is run there seems insane to me. I’ll have plenty of stories to share and I’m positive more will develop as time progresses.
My family, I love them but they don’t get me. Which isn’t that big of a surprise as I don’t really get them. I love them regardless, and they reciprocate. You’ll eventually learn all about them.
Various and sundry other topics will arise from time to time. This is really a tabula rasa and I intend to fill it without all sorts of things.
I’m not quite as computer savvy as I could be. HTML is something I never bothered with. So putting interesting things in the sidebar and such is going to be a learning exercise for me. Bear with me.
I don’t know how to get people reading your blog, though I’d love for them to do so. I hope genuine dialogue (monologue, at first) and good writing is enough. I’ll see as time goes on though. Perhaps links and commenting on others would help… I don’t know. If you have any ideas, send them my way! Oh, and Welcome!
