Wiki Bar – Best Cocktail in Yolo County

Here we are with the inaugural review for the best cocktail in Yolo county! I haven’t been to Wiki Bar since before it was called that and I don’t know if I’ve ever ordered a cocktail from the little bar back behind Bernardo’s. All I really knew about the place is that it is the home of the ‘Wiki Waki Woo’ which is a cocktail aimed squarely at dumb college students looking to get wrecked very quickly. When I asked the bartender about the drink he called it ‘sweet garbage.’

How were the rest of their drinks going to be? Actually, how is their Whiskey Sour going to be?

An End to 2017 – Working Out

Working Out
I wish I was this fit and active in 2017

I said in 2016 that it was not a good year for me. Clearly, 2016 Jonathon had no idea how bad things could get in 2017. I blame Past Jonathon for a lot of things…

Since I started tracking my workouts 2017 has, by far, been the worst year for me. I think I am on track in 2018, my recovery time has been longer than I thought and professional duties/responsibilities have taken up more time than I expected (the story of everyone’s life, right?) But, I think this year will be better. I’m off to a good start.

Enough excuses! Below the fold is the breakdown!

An End to 2017 – Television and Movies Watched

The two things that stand out in my viewings for 2017 are Game of Thrones and the Great British Baking Show. I finally caved in and joined the rest of the world and watched through GoT. And that probably would have been my highlight of the year if it wasn’t for the Great British Baking Show. What a lovely departure from the race to the bottom, zero-sum aesthetic of every other “reality” show on the air. What a cheery and uplifting change from what’s usually on the television. Coco was also embraced this even making the world of the dead more lively, cheerful, colorful, and hopeful than the world we see usually portrayed on the silver screen.

I didn’t watch as much as last year, even though I did watch 31 horror movies in October again. Click-through for the list.

An End To 2017 – Video Games Completed

Video Games Completed 2017
Atari 2600 Collection, Portland Retro Gaming Expo, 2017

Because this is now an annual thing that I do. Because I can’t help myself from keeping stupid lists. Because my backlog never seems to shrink. Here is the list of video games I completed in 2017.
Unlike 2016 not much stands out. The new Mario is a highlight, Bloodborne was fantastic. For new releases that is about all that I can really recall. I finally finished Star Control II after having it in the ‘to play’ pile for literally decades. Other games that have been sitting in the pile for far too long, like Pharoah and the Star Wars Dark Forces series, also got scratched off the list. Last year was also different in that it bucked the trend of less and less that has been the norm.
Regardless, you’ll find below the fold my list of completed games for last year. I wish I remembered more of them. Actually, I wish I’d find some sort of useful pastime… =P
